Did you know that “within nine seconds of entering a building, we take on the consciousness of that space”?* Yes, the places where we live and work have their own life force, which can be a collective consciousness or something completely separate from the people who occupy those spaces.
There are a couple of reasons for this. First, it’s an accumulation of energies and personalities over time, including the energies in the land underneath and surrounding a building; the energies of all of the people and materials who were involved in the design and construction of it; and the energies of all of the previous occupants (for existing spaces).
Second, a building is like the human body: The front door is the mouth and the windows are its eyes and ears. The back door is where all waste energy is eliminated.
The overall shape of a building impacts us, too. Ideally it should be symmetrical and balanced, but if there is a “missing” area of your home or office, that absence can manifest as a problem in your body, family or colleagues.
So, whether it’s a newly built structure or a fixer upper, we are affected energetically by a) everything that went into creating that environment – the good and the bad – and b) all of the events that happened in the space after day one.
This means doing a clearing is more important than ever: before your move-in date, after a major remodel or any time that you feel blocked or stuck and can’t seem to move forward in your life. Once you remove any problematic energies, you’ll be able to focus on making the necessary changes to restore harmony and balance in your space.
